Ascending Lights Executive Director
Founded in 1993, The Ascending Lights Leadership Network is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Its mission is to empower and develop young leaders who can assist inner city churches in their critical efforts to reverse the cycle of poverty and violence in Los Angeles. This is accomplished by educating disadvantaged young adults in community college degree programs that lead to good paying jobs and further university studies and by providing inner city churches with college trained volunteers capable of assuming key leadership positions in church based outreach ministries. Nominated by their pastors on the basis of their distinguished records of service, Ascending Lights students receive full scholarships to attend community colleges. Each student is supported by careful academic mentoring. Christian leadership skills are developed through spiritual growth activities and seminars in urban ministry.
The Agency is seeking a dynamic and Christian faith filled individual to lead and manage all aspects of Ascending Lights operations including student and staff recruiting, program development, financial management and reporting, resource development, human resources management, and church relations.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of successful program leadership or operating management experience, including fund raising or outside sales, is required. Must have experience collaborating with churches and pastors, including those in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Please read the Executive Director Job Description for further detail.

Ascending Lights Academic Mentor
Applications are being accepted for the position of Academic Mentor for community college students participating in the Ascending Lights Leadership Network (Summer and Fall 2011 semesters).
Compensation
- $19 per hour plus expenses
Qualifications
- Christian role model
- Previous experience tutoring or mentoring young adults
- Successful academic record in college mathematics
- Bachelor's Degree
